About
This is a forum to discuss how to tell your story - in an authentic and interesting way. Many of the topics that we will talk about fall under the category of “personal branding.” This term was coined in 1997 by management guru Tom Peters in a Fast Company article. He argued that we have entered a time where everyone needs to think of themselves as the CEO of Me Inc. I believe personal branding applies not only to career advancement, but also to personal success in friendship, dating and marriage.
The author, Jonathan Blank, is a “storyteller” with experience in human resources, marketing and public relations. Currently, Jonathan is a public relations manager for a global consultancy, charged with telling the corporate story in new and interesting ways.
Also, Jonathan helps people understand the art of storytelling and how it can be used in support of professional and personal goals. He is a personal branding coach and offers one-on-one sessions to define your current personal brand, your future personal brand and your marketing plan to bridge the gap. His blog, www.fillintheblankbranding.com, features lessons on public speaking, story structures, famous examples of personal branding and humorous anecdotes about his adventures.
In addition to his professional experience, Jonathan has learned a lot about communications from founding, directing, and performing in his improv comedy troupe, the Sample Platter. Last year, the Sample Platter was accepted to and performed at the Toronto International Improv Festival.
